Sports and Social

As with most Rotary Clubs, Golf is an important sporting and social occasion for Mildenhall members. The competetive instincts are ever present on the course and a friendly game only truly becomes friendly and sociable at the nineteenth hole!

We have hosted some very successful fund raising Golf days, usually organised by David Minns and Fred Bonnett. David and Fred have also been very successful in Rotary Golf competitions, both individually and as a team.

Popular indoor pursuits for the Mildenhall club include regular Snooker sessions and an active card school.

Everyone is encouraged to support events organised by the Club Service committee such as Ladies Night, Family and Friends evening and Theatre trips.

A tour of the local Greene King Brewery in Bury St. Edmunds proved a popular social event for the club.

A fully guided tour around this historic working brewery and museum was complimented by a healthy tasting session.

Many thanks to our two Greene King guides for their enthusiastic and informative tour.

A view of Bury St. Edmunds from the Brewery Roof

This is the view across the town of Bury St. Edmunds from the roof of the Brewery. If the wind is blowing in the right direction there is a lovely aroma all over town!

We were very lucky with the weather and although there were more than 150 steps it was well worth the climb!

The Brewery museum was very interesting and our two American guests were certainly enjoying themselves!

Richard and Raymond joined us for the evening at the very last minute and they had only arrived in Mildenhall that same day.

All revved up and nowhere to go!
Carolyn Child - All revved up and nowhere to go!

Carolyn couldn't wait to get to grips with this motorbike in the museum.

It was a shame it was only a static display as I am sure Carolyn would have happily ridden it home.
